Uss resolute star trek resurgence11/20/2023 ![]() ![]() As written, it was almost as if the crew and captain were congratulating a situation that was reckless, rejected authority, and put the entire ship in great danger. They end up taking action behind his back - with the leader of the group facing a grim fate but 'heroic death' that felt very wrong. ![]() I was uncomfortable with the complete disregard for the captain by the crew, all of whom seemed to assume the captain's thought process was compromised by an old flame. However, for me, there were problems in the storytelling. ![]() I did enjoy the nods to Star Trek's past and clearly the writers are fans with a good knowledge of the franchise. The crew features a nice mix of humans and aliens. It also gives us backstory for the other characters on the bridge, including one who was (thanks to the comic) understandably upset about being passed up for a promotion. The prequel sets up nicely why the game's main character (the one we play) is a Commander, why the ship has gone through an extensive refit, and why the captain has doubts about himself and being captain. As well, we have similar dynamics with Solano and the scientist, Leah Brahms, as Kirk and Carol did in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (less a son, of course). He will once again be faced with siding with the humans or with his adoptive culture, to which he has completely assimilated now that he has assumed a leadership position after the death of his father in the Dominion War. teen Jono decides to stay with the Talarians and so now we see him again, now an adult and in charge of his father's warship. In the episode a human adopted by a Talarian war chief grapples with returning to the humans or staying with his adoptive father. The story features a core character in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 4, episode 4, Becoming Human. The crew will have to negotiate in hostile Talarian territory and somehow save the scientist while making sure no Starfleet confidential technology is compromised. Turns out, the scientist is a woman with whom the captain had a past relationship - causing the crew to worry Solano may have lost objectivity in the mission. Along with hot headed number one, Commander Sutherland, they find themselves on an unusual mission for a scientific vessel: rescue a kidnapped brilliant scientist who may hold the key to advanced warp technology. Story: Captain Solano is a part of the Resurgence crew: a science ship. The timeline is not too long after Star Trek: The Next Generation ended. The comic storyline sets up the characters nicely for the game, explaining motivations and issues you will deal with while playing. Much as with Khan in Space Seed and then Wrath of Khan, this story has a basis in a Star Trek: Next Generation episode that impacts the game characters years later. More reviews (and no fluff) on the blog collects the 5 individual comics into one complete story prequel for the Star Trek: Resurgence game. ![]()
